Beauty and the Beast
Directed by John Tartaglia, Beauty and the Beast at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre was the first time the show was done where the castle residents were built as puppets. Designer Ashley Rose Horton wanted the period-like costume silhouettes to mimic the silhouettes/ images of the puppets in dark colors to "hide" the actors controlling the puppets. Above is the puppeteering costume for Babette, and below is the puppeteering costume for Mrs. Potts and various other puppeteering costumes.
This Victorian styled wedding dress build went through two rounds of mock ups. A false arm was built into the right sleeve to allow the actress to operate a puppet in the fake pregnancy belly.
